As a person who loves to capture moments and treasures photographs of beautiful memories, I prayed for an instant film camera as Christmas and early birthday gift. I thought I’d get it last December and turned out I wasn’t able to buy one as God called me for a different purpose. But as I gave what was in my hand, He gave what was in His.
A month later, I received a gift. Fujifilm Instax Mini 90. Yes, an instant film camera and a unit far better than what I asked for. What surprised me more was the fact that I didn’t tell anyone (not even to my family and closest friends) before what I wanted.
It’s truly amazing how God works and answers prayers – be it a yes, no or “wait”. One thing we can discern is to never underestimate what God can do or provide and don’t be afraid to ask as well. If we believe, we will receive whatever we ask for in prayer (Matthew 21:22). After all, He’s a loving, faithful and gracious Father.
This goes beyond what we get from asking but how God calls us to obedience. Talking to and asking God requires listening, seeking His Word and dealing over the call, hence, obeying Him. Whether how or when He responds, our faith should be deeper than answered prayers.
