December 6. Saturday. 3AM. I was wide awake and clearly heard the rain dancing on the roof. Muscles were throbbing and I was burned out from yesterday’s dance rehearsal. Still mustered the courage to get up for I couldn’t afford to let this day pass not joining the big event I’ve waited all year round. It’s sad to hear about some friends who backed out due to inclement weather but Fhabs and I were unstoppable.5AM. The rain stopped. Few stars twinkled in the sky. We stood in starting line of 39th National Milo Marathon Race amidst the drizzle. We did some warm-up then prepared for the gun start. 5:35AM. I felt a twinge on my knees yet I managed to run, slowly and carefully. My goal was to break last year’s 5k finishing time record (1h40m).6:15AM. My eyes lit up seeing the big arc of finishing line. 6:16AM. I gasped for air and finished 5k in 41mins. 6:30AM. Dark clouds disappeared and bright sun greeted us. Sipping my cup of MILO, I realized I couldn’t have a taste of this special day if I just worried too much on the weather and went back to sleep. As a champion on my goal, I’m always set to move forward.
