Visit any Sunflower Farm this summer? Check! Thanks to my dearest Kat for tagging me along on a weekend trip to her home province. As soon as I learned that we’re bound for Quezon, my heart is jumping in excitement as part of the fun would be a sunflower farm tour.
Sunshine Farm Philippines, located in Tiaong, Quezon, is owned by Rhodora Palomar-Fresnedi who has a passion for flower arrangement and for helping people with disability (PWDs).Weeks after meeting with Mike Caballes, a horticulturist and sunflower expert, she started planting seeds in a vacant lot in Lalig and hired two PWDs to assist in her passion project. The blooms started appearing months later and now the farm has already attracted thousands of locals and tourists from neighboring towns and provinces. As of posting, Sunshine Farm is a home for 1,300+ sunflowers blooming this season with 11 PWD employees being supported by its advocacy.More than a pretty backdrop for your summer photos, I encourage you to take time to stop and enjoy the stunning view of smiling sunflowers around you. Seeing the gorgeous blooms and walking around the field made me giddy the whole time!
Kudos to you, Ma’am Rhodora, for planting seeds of hope, helping people and inspiring everyone out there (including me!) with such beautiful advocacy. 😊
