I first learned about “Times of Refreshing” from my close friend and have been filled with enthusiasm to experience it, too. A month later, TOR Conference registration was announced on our Sunday service and the next thing I knew, I was one of the first to sign up – excited lang talaga. 🙂
For Batch 61, TOR was intended for young people in time for semestral break. Though our Halloween event at work was held on the same date, I didn’t let the opportunity pass and chose to participate in the three-day activity. Sabi sa confirmation message, “Expect greatly from the Lord.” I thought I did, yet the whole encounter was way beyond expectations. It’s an extraordinary experience and describing it in millennial term: Petmalu.
It was a three-day filled with love, fellowship, life lessons, surprises and has paved the way to greater: Joy (Psalm 16:11), Encouragement (Deuteronomy 31:8), Satisfaction (Psalm 103:1-5), Understanding (Psalm 19:8), Security (Psalm 27:1)
Being away from our mobile phones for a few days was also a great escape from social media routine and online life. No push notifications, My day/IG stories and news feed. Digital detox at its finest! In our group, no one met each other before but felt like we’ve been together for years! We instantly clicked that we even stayed up late each night for random conversations, fun stories and moments of reflection – kahit ang aga ng assembly time namin. Haha!
Also, thanks to Tita Lani (our guide) for taking good care of us and being our “nanay” in the group. Mahal po namin kayo!To say that “Times of Refeshing” is a worthwhile experience would be an understatement.
It has served as a lamp that shines bright as we walk in the path of new obedience (Acts 3:19), brought a sense of awakening and “brand-newness” (2 Corinthians 5:17) and taught us to fix our mind and heart on things Above (Colossians 3:2) and always delight in His presence (Psalm 37:4).
Change is good and exciting – even in writing. I’ve found joy and deeper sense of fulfillment in sharing something personal, writing about other aspects of life (aside from travel) and all sorts of things. Let me thank you for joining me on the journey.
